This changes the game

Not only have scientists found a new solar system, but it may have an inhabitable planet or moon. I've made my concerns about earth's imminent annihilation in the murderous maw of a supermassive blackhole known, and I think that the discovery of a planet in the habitable zone points us in the right direction: Our future is 55 Cancri.

Now, we just have to develop faster-than-light travel.

Until we can make it to Mars in an hour or so, there's no way we're setting foot on, let alone settling, another solar system.

You make a great point, Jeremy. My next post will address this issue. The real problem is not attaining faster-than-light speed; it's getting Dennis Kucinich elected president – the prospect of which is real science fiction …

My money's on that aforementioned Murderous Maw. Three cheers for Omnicide!
